New Build Property

From Concept to Construction

When planning a home extension, loft conversion, or internal reconfiguration, one of the most common questions homeowners ask is: " Where do I start?"

The answer lies in understanding how architectural services and structural engineering fit together, and why involving the right professionals at the right time makes all the difference.

Stage 1: Planning & Design

The first stage focuses on turning your ideas into a practical, well-considered design. Jagma will assess your property, develop the proposed layout, prepare the necessary planning drawings and, where required, manage the planning application and liaison with the local authority.

The aim is to establish a design that works for you while considering planning requirements and the practicalities of the property from the outset.

Stage 2: Construction Detail & Compliance

Once the design is agreed, the focus moves to the technical detail needed to prepare your project for construction. Jagma develops the drawings for Building Regulations and coordinates with a structural engineer where structural calculations or specifications are required.

Bringing the architectural and structural information together at this stage helps ensure the proposed design is practical, compliant and properly coordinated before building work begins. Jagma can also help you find a suitable builder or construction team when you're ready to move your project forward.

Working With a Structural Engineer

For projects involving structural alterations, such as removing load-bearing walls, creating new openings, extensions or loft conversions, input from a structural engineer may also be required.

While Jagma focuses on the planning, design and technical drawings for your project, a structural engineer assesses the structural requirements and provides the necessary calculations and specifications to ensure the proposed design can be safely constructed.

We work alongside Pavol Zajac Structural Engineers, who specialise in residential structural engineering, helping to ensure the architectural and structural elements of a project are properly coordinated.

By bringing these disciplines together, potential structural considerations can be identified and addressed before construction begins, helping to create a smoother route from design to build.

Planning Your Project

Whether you're extending your home, converting a loft, or reconfiguring internal space, starting with clear drawings and managed planning support is essential. From there, professional structural engineering input ensures your project is safe, structurally sound, and ready to build.

If you're considering building work, Jagma Property Services can support you with drawings and planning management, working alongside trusted structural engineering partners to help deliver a smooth, well-structured project from start to finish.
